What You Do
- Bill’s Detoxification Tea
- Note: This Tea is not meant to treat or cure any disease or condition. The ingredients listed and included in the tea are meant to naturally aid in the detoxification of the liver to promote healthy function of the organ. It is recommended that it not be overused. Two cups for 4-5 days, four times per year is sufficient. A daily cup will not be of detriment. If you have concerns or questions please contact your local Naturopathic Doctor or MD.
Bill Leavitt, November, 2006It is a known fact that organs cluttered with toxins including heavy metals, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, pollution, fat, and alcohol do not function at their best. It is estimated that the liver alone has over 200 chemical operations to perform. Given a break from the pollutants and time to rejuvenate they have the ability to heal themselves. The problem is, when you live in a city and are exposed to car exhaust, second hand smoke, food laden with chemical additives and fat, fluorinated, (amongst other goodies), water, and ample opportunities to indulge in sweets, organs such as the liver never get a rest. Their duties to purify the blood, remove waste, and manufacture bodily necessities take a sideline to deal with the immediate threat. These infiltrators, over time, will impair the organ, and reduce its output efficiency and can eventually lead to disease. The combination of ingredients in this tea are not a magic cure but rather a little help from the herbal community to help eject some of these toxins. The true key to organ health is to avoid the garbage mentioned above as much as you can.DANDELION 48%
Not just a pest of a weed, its leaves are a powerful diuretic and its roots act as blood purifier that help the liver and kidneys to remove toxins and poisons from the blood. Its also acts as a mild laxative, improves digestion by stimulating the production and release of bile which transports toxins to the stool, and improves appetite through its bitterness which activates the secretion of digestive juices. It also contains Boron, which helps raises estrogen levels to combat Osteoporosis.
*should be avoided if you have gallstones, are taking prescribed dieretics, take insulin, are on antibiotics.
NETTLE 32%
Also used as a diuretic increasing urine output and salt excretion, the ‘stinging nettle’ is an excellent anti-inflammatory, and alleviates allergies by boosting immune system function.
*seek approval if on blood pressure medication
MILK THISTLE 16%
Milk Thistle is extraordinarily useful in protecting and detoxifying the liver and in the treatment of liver diseases such alcoholic hepatitis, cirrhosis, liver poisoning, and viral hepatitis. It prevents the depletion of Gluathione, which is one of the main links in the livers ability to detoxify. It regulates the digestion of fats, helps stabilize blood sugars and cholesterol by promoting protein synthesis in the liver and by aiding the conversion of LDL into LDL. It prevents the oxidation of LDL onto arterial walls, reduces inflammation of the intestine, lowers the cholesterol content of the bile thus reducing the chance of gallstones, and promotes the excretion of certain hormones. It increases the production of bile, prevents the entry of toxins into liver cells, promotes liver cell regeneration, and plays a role in increasing liver immune cells, (Kuppfer cells), that can prevent liver cancer.
CILANTRO 4%
Cilantro is more than just tasty, it is also antimicrobial, seeking out and destroying certain forms of harmful bacteria. It has been touted as aiding to remove heavy metals such as mercury from the liver and in digestion and stomach pain.
